William was a native of Hanover, Germany. On 02 Dec 1854 he married Elizabeth Killion and they had five children, three of whom are known: Amelia, Henry, and William, Jr. William was involved in the furniture-manufacturing industry and was a partner in the Greve, Buhrlage & Co. furniture company. Later he was involved with the Kentucky Furniture Manufacturing Co. William died of softening of the brain. His wife, Elizabeth, later married his former business partner, Julius Eschmann.
