James was the son of James and Catherine Black. On 06 Jun 1907 he married Henrietta "Nettie" Wetzel and they had two children, John and Evelyn. Prior to 1930 James and Nettie divorced and at a later date he married his second wife, Evelyn Steltenkamp. He was a retired employee of the Robert Adelberg Real Estate Co. James died at Audubon Hospital at the age of 94.
