Mary Agnes was the daughter of Alonzo "Lonnie" Gammons and Anna Pearl Comley. At the time of her death she was an operator for Southern Bell Telephone Co. She died at the age of 18 after being involved in an automobile accident. The car in which she was a passenger hit a culvert and she incurred a fracture at the base of the skull and internal injuries.
