Frances was the fourth and youngest child of Johann Pape and Franciska Biermann. Apparently, her mother died as a result of complications due to her birth, and shortly thereafter the children were placed in St. Joseph's German Orphan Asylum in Louisville, KY. On 14 Sep 1899 she married Charles Franck and they had seven, and possibly eight, children: Arthur, Eunice, Lillian, Ethel, Thelma, Charles, Everett, and Shirley (Charles and Everett may be the same person). Charles died in 1926 and Frances remained a widow the rest of her life. She died at the age of 94.
