Ethel was the daughter of Charles Franck and Frances Pape. In 1929 her son, Ronald Mullinix, was born. Shortly after World War II ended she met John Martin Sparrow who was stationed at Fort Campbell in southern Kentucky. They married shortly thereafter and had two children, Frances and Martina. In the late 1940's Ethel developed tuberculosis and was in an iron lung. After she recovered, her doctor suggested that she move to a drier climate so the family moved to Dodge City, Kansas. Desiring to live closer to her sisters they moved to Bellevue, Kentucky, in 1970. John died in 1973. Ethel did not remarry and died in 1987 at the age of 77.
