Obituary: James Dale Cunningham, 65, of Gassville, AR, died at 10:25 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 at Cox South Trauma Center, Springfield, MO. Mr. Cunningham was born on March 30, 1944 in Franklin County, IL, the son of Ed Cunningham and Mary Lorene (Todd) Cunningham. He was a retired pipefitter, a member of The Pipefitters Union and a U.S. Army Veteran of he Vietnam War. He was a member of the St. Louis Hot Boat Club and a former member of the Michigan Hot Boat Club. He loved to fish and liked to drag race. Surviving relatives include one son, James Dale Cunningham, IL, New York, one brother, Bob Cunningham, Akin, IL, three sisters, Barbara Cunningham, Benton, IL, Becky Abbott, West Frankfort, IL, Penny Ferrari and husband Sisto, Benton, IL, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Cunningham was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Mixon officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL with military rites performed by the Benton American Legion and V.F.W. (newspaper unknown)
