Joe, the oldest of two sons, served his country during WWII in the European Theatre. He resided in Christy Park (McKeesport) for several decades until moving to Versailles, PA in 1970 to look after his elderly father. Joe worked for US Steel in McKeesport for over 40 years in the railroad car repair shop. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport, PA.
Joe had one son and two daughters. His first wife passed away at a young age, leaving him the two young daughters to raise. He later got married to another wonderful Slovak woman in the Catholic church who shared his strong faith. They made many religious pilgrimages together as far away as Ottawa, Canada.
