Sarah was the daughter of Revolutionary War Patriot Myndert VanArsdale/ Minard Van Arsdalen of New Jersey and Catherine Hoagland.
---------------------
Mrs. Sarah Farley Van Nostrand, probably the oldest person in New Jersey, died at her home in East Millstone a few days ago, aged 105 years 3 months and 10 days. Her death was hastened by a fall which she received about two weeks before. Mrs. Van Nostrand's father, Wyndert Van Arsdale, was a drummer boy in the Revolutionary war and served at the battle of Trenton. Mrs. Van Nostrand retained full possession of her faculties to the very last, and her memory was remarkable. She knew all the residents of Millstone and could name them as they passed her window.
For years past it has been the custom to hold an annual family reunion on her birthday, and the old lady always enjoyed these occasions. One of the last things she said was:
"I am thankful God has spared me so long and left me so many blessings."
Five children survive her, the oldest of which is 79 years of age.
