Louise Deel Gill, of Round Rock, and formerly of Irving, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the age of 85. She was born July 27, 1923 in Stamford, Texas. She was the daughter of Cora and Henry Deel. Preceded in death by her devoted husband Ray Gill, Sr. and four brothers, George Deel, James Deel, Burnis Deel, and Guy Deel, survivors include her sister Bunise Sisson Morykwas; sons Ray Gill, Jr. and wife Jackie, and George Gill and wife Carol; grandsons Tim Gill and wife Melissa, and Ryan Stanfa; great grandchildren Jack and Lauren Combs; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend Richard Van Gundy.
Louise was happiest when she was with all her friends and volunteering in many local civic, political, and charitable organizations in the Irving community.
She was also known for her many accomplishments and fundraising efforts.
Louise served as resident of Yellow Rose AMBUCS and then District Governor, she also served as President of the Altrusa Club and of the Women's Division of Irving Chamber of Commerce. Memberships also included City of Irving Television Cable Board and Irving Heritage Committee.
Along with the many offices Louise once held, her proudest moment was when she was awarded the Irving Academy of Community Service Best Actress Award in 1998.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Brown's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wallace Philot officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation or to a favorite charity.
