Kit Carson Berdine was the son of George and Frances Phoeba (Gray) Berdine. From age three he was raised by Zachary Taylor and Deliah (Wood) Parry - never adopted. He was the husband of Cora Olive (Wilson) Berdine. In 1908 he founded Berdine's Five & Dime Store in Harrisville, West Virginia. The store was still in operation - March 29, 2010.
