Mabel R. Beatty
Mabel Virginia Reid Beatty, 94, of Winchester, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in Winchester.
Mrs. Beatty was born in 1914 in Frederick County, the daughter of French Thornton and Margaret Francis Reid. She was a sales clerk for Singer Sewing Machine Co. and a member of Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Stephens City High School.
She married Roy Singleton Beatty on Dec. 18, 1931, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Beatty died Feb. 1, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Lee Strosnider and Peggy Ramey, both of Stephens City; two sons, Doug Beatty of Rocky Mount and Rick Beatty of Winchester; two stepsisters, Lolita Christian of Stephens City and Carrie Lou Bauserman of Roanoke; a stepbrother, Richard Reid of Winchester; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A brother, Mason Reid, is deceased, as are two sisters, Edna Sargent and Mildred Vann, and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, with the Rev. Sharon Forbes officiating. Burial will be in Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doug Beatty, Brice Beatty, Greg Beatty, Skeeter Ramey, Jeremy Coulson, and Stanley Stillwell.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
