Michael Adam died at Kutztown on Tuesday after a lingering illness of over a year. He was bedfast for the past five weeks. Death was due to general debility. He attained the age of 78 years, 6 months and 3 days. He was a son of the late Peter Adam and wife Esther (nee Moll). His wife Leah and five children preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters and two sons, Louise, wife of Irvin Sensenderfer; Alice, wife of James Leapold; and Howard, with whom deceased had resided, all of town; and Solon, of East Texas, and twenty grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Deceased was a member of the St. John's Reformed church. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted on Sept. 25, 1862, as a private in Co. E, 151st Regiment, Penna. Volunteers, under the command of Captain Jacob S. Graeff. Mr. Adam served during the battle of Gettysburg and was discharged on July 13th, 1863. He was a lifelong Democrat. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon.
