Son of Everett Burton Maphet Sr., he was known to all as Bill, or "Pike" (because of his exceptional height). Bill was a farmer/ stockman most of his life, was active in the VFW, and also in the local REA. Bill was very out-going and friendly and loved to dance. He and his wife Joann were members of the Moose club in Dodge City. He leaves his wife Joanne, and two sons, Greg, Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Wendell of Laverne.
