Florence Chomo, 101, died Monday August 24, 2015 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She would have celebrated her 102nd birthday on Sept. 2. She was the widow of George Chomo, who died in July, 1970. Born in Peckville, daughter of the late John and Stella Scanlon Rodway, she was a graduate of Olyphant High School and before her retirement was employed in the garment industry. She was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Olyphant. Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Spryn and husband, Nicholas, Olyphant, with whom she resided for the last five years; her granddaughter, Tamara Baughman and husband, Steve, Hagerstown, Md.; grandson, Robert G. Chomo and wife, Christina, Naples, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Haelle and Ema Chomo and Garrett, Robert and Andrew Halverson. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Chomo, who died on February 10, 2007. The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Michael Wargo Jr. Funeral Home, 812 E. Scott St., Olyphant, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, River Street, Olyphant, to be celebrated by the Rev. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor. Interment in St. Cyril's Cemetery, Peckville. Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. A Parastas service will be held at 6 p.m.
