Violet May Belden, 101, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Factoryville, died Saturday at Shell Point Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Belden of Factoryville; daughter, Barbara Joan Havasi of Dickson City; longtime companion, George Talkevich of Scranton; and two brothers, Emmanuel and William Crew. Born May 21, 1914, in Wales, United Kingdom, she was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn Crew. Violet was a homemaker, a member of the Factoryville Sportsman Club Auxiliary, the Factoryville Fire Company Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church of Factoryville. Spending time with her family and friends were her special joys as was wintering in Fort Myers Beach. Violet had a genuine zest for life and made people smile wherever she was. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who loved singing and walking. Violet loved animals. Interment will be held at Nicholson Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
