JEWELL TUGGLE HAMMONS, 70, of Detroit, Michigan, was born in Knox Coun Ky, on March 16, 1930. She was a daughter of the late Alex Tuggle and Sarah McVey Tuggle. She died Monday, September 11, 2000 in the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. On December 18, 1947, she united in marriage to Clarence Avery Hammons.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Avery Hammons of Detroit, Mich.; her son, John Hammons and wife Donna of Garden City, Mich.; her daughters, Sharon Sullivan of Trenton, Mich., Judy Hammons of Allen Park, Mich., Darlene Anderson and husband Darrell of Greenville, Tenn. and Sandra Kelly and husband Tim of Romulus, Mich. four grandsons; and her brothers, John C. Tuggle and wife Mary of Heidrick, Paul Tuggle and wife Mae of Detroit, Mich., Chris Tuggle and wife Jean of Detroit, Mich.
Funeral services were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, September 14 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mervial C. Newman officiating.
Burial followed in the Doolin-Tuggle Cemetery at Heidrick. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
