She was educated in Cocke County Schools. She retired from Mathews Belk. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and served on various committees.
SURVIVORS: Her daughters, Marilyn Thornton of Gastonia, Joyce T. Blue and her husband Lacy W. Blue of Charlotte, Audrey Thornton of Gastonia; grandchildren, Carolyn Blue Mikell and her husband Lee Mikell, and Thomas W. Blue
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Her husband, Paul William Thornton; four brothers; four sisters
