Obituary:

Cecil Paul Bennett was born March 13, 1910 at Long Lane, Missouri, the son of Claude and Letha Ruperta (Basinger) Bennett. He departed this life August 8, 1987 at the home on Route 1, Long Lane, Missouri at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 25 days.

November 9, 1935 he was united in marriage with Alma Cheek and 11 children were born of this union.

Cecil farmed and was a member of the National Farmers Association, and served on the board of the R.E.A. Twenty-eight years ago he was baptized into the Church of Christ.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Alma; three sons, Bob, Kansas City, Mo; Rex and Ralph of Long Lane, Mo; six daughters, Bethel Pipkin, Harrisonville, MO; Frances Pickney, Long Lane, MO; Janice Potter, Elkland, MO; Letha Warnock, Mannford, OK; Linda Bennett of the home, and Nancy Skinner, Elkland, MO; one brother, Gerald Bennett, Marne, MI; two sisters, Ruth Lane, Ava, MO; and Claudia Gaunt, Buffalo, MO; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and one uncle, George Bennett, Buffalo, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jim and Edward; one grandson, Bruce Bennett; and one brother, Floyd.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 10, 1987, at 10 a.m. in the Montgomery-Viets Chapel with Mr. Smith Bibens officiating. Music was by Cathy, Larry and Barbara Bradford who sang, "Heavenly Sunlight," "Blessed Assurance" and "Sundown." Casketbearers were: John Bennett, Scotty Bennett, Jim Bennett, Steve Pipkin, Kevin Bennett, Randy Pickney, Tony Warnock and Brian Potter. Honorary escorts were: Marty Bennett, Eddie Bennett, Rick Bennett, Keith Pipkin, Gary Pickney and Curtis Skinner. Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery under direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo Missouri.
