Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Pisgah Cemetery near Long Lane with the Rev. Robert Long officiating. Burial was under the direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.

Rex Bennett was born June 16, 1940, in Elijah, the son of Cecil Paul Bennett and Alma (Cheek) Bennett. He died Dec. 5, 2001, in Long Lane, at the age of 61 years, five months and 18 days.

He was united in marriage with Janice Jefferies in 1957 and four children were born of this union. On Sept. 29, 1987, he was married to Laura Nixon, and adopted her three children.

He lived most of his life in the Long Lane community and he worked as an over-the-road truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Laura: three sons: Jim Bennett, Buffalo, Ed Bennett, Fair Grove and Justin Bennett, of the home: four daughters: Debbie McAdoo, Buffalo, Leah Ann Gaddy, Half Way, Amber Bennett and Karen Bennett, of the home: his mother, Alma Bennett, Long Lane: two brothers: Bob and Ralph Bennett, Long Lane: six sisters: Bethel Pipkin, Harrisonville, Frances Bennett, Buffalo, Janice Potter, Elkland, Letha Grant, Sapulpa, Okla., Linda Bennett, Long Lane, and Nancy Skinner, Elkland: 10 grandchildren: and one great-grandchild.
