Motion-Picture Cinematographer. Born in Los Angeles, the son of pioneering cameraman Henry Cronjager and nephew of cameraman Jules Cronjager, he followed them into the family business. He had no signature style but was a solid all-around craftsman, doing fine work in black-and-white and color, indoor and outdoor photography. His peak years were spent at Fox. Cronjager received seven Academy Award nominations, for "Cimarron" (1931), "Sun Valley Serenade" (1941), "The Pied Piper" (1942), "To the Shores of Tripoli" (1942), "Heaven Can Wait" (1943), "Home in Indiana" (1944), and "Beneath the 12 Mile Reef" (1953).
