Cinematographer. A former cameraman for Pathe, the French-born Barlatier was brought to the United States by producer Carl Laemmle and shot several of Universal's early prestige pictures, including "Neptune's Daughter" (1914) and "A Daughter of the Gods" (1916), starring legendary swimmer Annette Kellerman. From 1924 to 1929 he was under contract at MGM, where he was often employed on films with Parisian settings. His career faded with talkies and by the late 1930s he was shooting Three Stooges shorts and potboilers for Monogram. Among Barlatier's other credits are "The Sacred Flame" (1920), "The Flying Dutchman" (1923), "Lady of the Night" (1925), "Exit Smiling" (1926), "On Ze Boulevard" (1927), "Borrowed Wives" (1930), "3 Dumb Clucks" (1937), and "Redhead" (1941). He died while pursuing 3-D experiments at Columbia.
