Lawrence Schimmelpfennig was born July 25, 1912 near Ruthville, the son of Herman and Lydia (Lade) Schimmelpfennig. He was raised and attended schools in Waterford Township. He married Clarice Olson September 4, 1938 in Glenburn. They lived and farmed in Waterford Township until his death. He enjoyed farming, doing carpentry work and playing his banjo. He died at his home, after a long battle with cancer.
