Durham - Jolene Muntaz Kennedy, 19, of 3507 Ridge road, formerly of Thomasville, died June 11 at Duke University Medical Center after an illness of seven years.
She is survived by her father, Dr. Joseph Kennedy of Durham, formerly of Thomasville;
brother, Joseph B. Kennedy, and grandmother, Mrs. Carol C. Kennedy of Thomasville.

On July 9, 1974, she had been a passenger in a car driven by
Patricia Swink, her father's fiance. They were hit head-on by another driver coming from the opposite direction. Jolene had been pronounced dead at the hospital, but was kept alive so her organs could be donated. Later that day, as they were preparing to take her organs, she revived and lived until 1981.
