Anne Frances Bruch, age 76, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on Saturday, January 11, 2014. She was born to Joseph and Marion Sweet in Auburn, NY. Anne grew up on a farm near the village of Skaneateles, NY and was known to disappear for hours up an apple tree to read her books.

After graduating from Marcellus High School, she received a New York State Regents Scholarship to attend New York State Teachers College in Albany, New York. She graduated Magna Cumae Laude with a degree in Social Studies with minors in Latin and Greek languages. But Anne's real passion was exploring the world not just reading about it. She decided to pursue a Masters degree at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. She met Sergeant First Class Charles Bruch there. They were married at a Schofield Barracks Army chapel.

Moving was the norm for the next 15 years. Kansas (while Charles was serving in the Vietnam War), New York (while Charles was serving in South Korea along the DMZ), Connecticut, West Germany, New York, and Louisiana were all assignments. Germany was the biggest adventure and Anne enjoyed going out and visiting the villages and learning the customs, culture and language of Germany. She was also active with the American Girl Scout program on the army base, serving as Neighborhood Chairman twice. The final move to Louisiana opened up another chapter for Anne. She went to work with the Civil Service as a librarian at Fort Polk, Louisiana and continued through many other jobs in Civil Service until her retirement in 2002. In addition to working: she was a Girl Scout Leader for several years, worked football game concession stands for the Leesville High School Band Boosters, and was a member of the Pilot International, a professional women's organization.

After retiring Anne enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and reading. She was known to read up to 5 books a week, all from the Vernon Parish Library. In 2013, she and Charles celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a small party of family and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, she is survived by her husband Charles, her daughters: Molly (David) Wascom of Albuquerque, NM; Louisa (Michael) Naber of Denver, CO and her two grandchildren, Ian Wascom and Sarah Naber. Also surviving her are her sisters: Phyllis (Terril) Stearns of Manlius, NY; Mary Jo (Mark) Adams of Naples, NY; Marjorie (James) Wilkins of Prescott, AZ and many nieces and nephews and friends. She was much loved and will be missed by all that knew her.

Viewing will be held at the Family Worship Center, 601 E. Mechanic Street, Leesville, LA 71446 on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 5-8pm. Services will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Family Worship Center, Leesville, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Family Worship Center.
