**********
From the Pauls Valley Daily Democrat - 10 Dec 1969

He moved to Pauls Valley in 1944 as Chamber of Commerce manager. At the time of his death, Hazlitt was the agency vice-president of Home Security Life Insurance. He was a veteran of World War II. The list of his community and civic efforts is a long one. He was Chamber of Commerce manager twice and president once, and was chosen as 'man of the year' in 1963. A member of the United Methodist church, he conducted a weekly Bible study class for many years, served in various capacities in the church and, at the time of his death, was interim minister there. He received his license as a Methodist minister earlier this year, following theological study. To his credit are the restoration of the Old Cemetery, the 1957 Garvin county cenntennial celebration, and the 200 page history book, as well as years of service with the Boy Scouts and innumerable other groups or individuals. In February he was among the outstanding U. S. citizens given awards by the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge.
