Civil War Veteran. From Military Records:
John D Bane age 29 of North Liberty, Iowa nativity Virginia; enlisted Aug 2 1862 into Co B 22nd Iowa Infantry as Sgt.
Promoted to 1st Sgt July 1, 1863.
Probably initially buried at battle site .
All burials at battle site were later moved either to Winchester National Cemetery or elsewhere. Most unknowns are buried in Winchester National Cemetery.
