Benjamin Greensky.

Son of Rev. Peter Greensky of Pine River, modern day Charlevoix County Michigan, now known as Greensky Hill Indian Mission.

Native American Union Soldier. 1st Michigan Sharpshooters, Company K. A entire company of Native American Soldiers Volunteers from Michigan.

Killed in action at Spotsylvania Virginia 12 May 1864. Buried on the battlefield. Age 24.

Married to Emma Redbird on 13th July 1863 at Northport Michigan, Leelanau County, by Solomon Steele, Methodist Minister. Witnesses to marriage are Etta A Fittle and Marcella M. Steele.

Emma Greensky applied for a widows pension on 29 Sept 1864, and granted a pension of $8 each month. Subsequently determing that her husband Benjamin Greensky, Private 1st Michigan Sharpshooters, Company K, had been killed in action at Spotsylvania Virginia and buried on the battlefield 12 May 1864.
