ARLENE F. "IKIE" HERINCKX

Arlene F. "Ikie" Herinckx, 83, a resident of the Verboort community, died Saturday evening, January 6, 2007 at her home.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Visitation Catholic Church, 4285 NW Visitation Road in Verboort. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort with Reverend Scott Vandehey, celebrant. Burial Rites and Interment will follow at the Visitation Cemetery in Verboort.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held in the Harris Center at the church.
ARLENE FRANCES "IKIE" HERINCKX was born March 2, 1923 in Verboort, Oregon, the daughter of Albert Jansen and Theodora (Van Dyke) Jansen. She was raised and received her education in the Verboort community, having attended Visitation School.
She was united in marriage to Joseph F. "Joe" Herinckx on October 29, 1947 in Verboort, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home on the family farm in Verboort. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on February 27, 1999, after celebrating over fifty-one years of marriage.
Arlene was a homemaker and mother to their nine children. She also worked along side her husband on the family dairy farm.
She was a lifelong member of the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Among her interests, Arlene enjoyed crocheting, flowers, gardening, and canning. She was an excellent seamstress and made her children's clothing while they were growing up. She loved animals and always had cats and dogs on the farm.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dora Jansen; three brothers, Maurice Jansen,
Gerve Jansen, and Vernon Jansen; a sister, Mary Hafner; and a son, Philip Herinckx.
Arlene is survived by five sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond Herinckx of Portland, Oregon; Stanley and Karen Herinckx of Cornelius, Oregon; Stephen Herinckx of Verboort, Oregon; Edward Herinckx of Vancouver, Washington; and Wilfred Herinckx of North Plains, Oregon; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Doreen and Terrance Devlaeminck of Vernonia, Oregon; Theresa and Bob Crubaugh of Yamhill, Oregon; and Adella Herinckx of Forest Grove, Oregon; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wilbur "Pete" Jansen of Verboort, Oregon and Larry and Eileen Jansen of Forest Grove, Oregon; and a sister, Martha "Marty" Eberly of Veneta, Oregon.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Scott Kohlmeyer of Syracuse, Utah; Marci Kohlmeyer of Forest Grove, Oregon; Kari Herinckx of Eugene, Oregon; Daniel Devlaeminck of Hillsboro, Oregon; Brenda Miller of Hillsboro, Oregon; Melissa Devlaeminck of Forest Grove, Oregon; Bobbi Jo Schwartz of Banks, Oregon; and Travis Crubaugh of Beaverton, Oregon; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that remembrances may be made to Visitation Cemetery Fund, in her memory.
