Alvaretta M. Darling, 93, formerly of Button Rd., Chittenango, passed away Wednesday at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Chittenango. Born in Rochester, Alvaretta was a life resident of Chittenango. She was a life and active member of Chittenango United Methodist Church. Alvaretta was also a member of the Chittenango Garden Club and the Embroidery Guild. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett "George" Darling; a daughter, Carol Darling; brothers, Linus French and Paul Van Doren; and sister, Mary Kranz. Surviving are her son, George (Janet) Darling of Chittenango; her daughters, Mary Miller (Frank) of Baldwinsville, Barbara Hunt of Spring Lake, New Jersey, and Ruth Wickwire of Chittenango; brothers, Elwyn French of Rochester and Homer (Dorothy) French of Cato; a sister, Theodora Bergman of Canastota; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Chittenango United Methodist Church, 205 Falls Blvd. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango. Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Stonehedge Nursing Home Resident Activity Fund, 331 Russell St., Chittenango, NY 13037.
