Will made June 21, 1794.

Sons Abner and William received:

All my house and lands where I now live with all improvements and appurtenances thereunto and all my personal estate of every nature and kind so ever to be divided between them, share and share alike.

He ordered them to pay his other sons, Edward, Matthias, Andrew, James, Jacob and Isaac, the sum of ten shillings for their legacy.

His daughters, Margery, Mary, Rachel, Sarah and Jane were to be paid forty shillings each.

"Cornelius Badgley son of George and Mary Hatfield Badgley was born at Elizabethtown NJ about 1728.

He was married to Elsey, daughter of James and Mary (Garthwait) Townsley who was born at Elizabethtown between 1728-1733. They lived at Elizabethtown and were members of St. John's Episcopal Church although both Mr. and Mrs. Badgley are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Mrs. Badgley died of a fright on July 21, 1809 when she was informed of the suicide of her son the day before.

The children of Cornelius and Elsey (Townsley) Badgley: 1. Margery, baptized September 16, 1753 married Abner Price in 1784 and died before 1808; 2. William baptized August 10, 1755, died in infancy; 3. Mary baptized May 8, 1757; 4. Abner baptized October 15, 1758 married Sarah ---- and died May 2, 1797; 5. Rachel born June 28, 1760 married Thomas Price in 1778 and died January 17 1839; 6. Sarah baptized April 15, 1762 married Joseph Mann of Elizabethtown; 7. Jane baptized August 5, 1764; 8. Edward baptized August 31, 1766, died July 20 1809; 9. William born October 13, 1767, married Rebecca Abbott and died November 11, 1825; 10. Matthias baptized September 11, 1771 married ----- Abbott and moved to Canada; 11. Andrew baptized December 1, 1771; 12. James baptized July 10, 1773."
Note his two youngest sons, Jacob and Isaac are not mentioned in the above article but are listed in his Will

The Tombstone reads: In Memory of Cornelius Badgley, who departed this life June 10, 1794 in the 66th year of his age. And, Elsey, Widow of Cornelius Badgley who departed this life July 25, 1809 in the 77th year of her age.
