Jason Boyette and three friends were taking turns putting on a single set of snorkeling gear and diving with a flashlight to explore underwater caves on a nearby river.
Friends said Boyette was the last to go in and never came up. They called authorities at about 3:30 a.m.
Sheriffs Office divers found Boyette's body stuck in an underwater cave over five hours later.

Jason Boyette, a resident of Wesley Chapel (Pasco County), Florida passed away at the age of 22.
A graduate of Wesley Chapel High School,
he was now in in the process of becoming
a firefighter.
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Sharon. A brother Bryan. Also survived by his grandmothers Joyce and Rita, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service was on Thursday, July 20 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home in Tampa, Florida.

He is described as friendly to everyone, a very hard worker and polite. He was highly regarded by his friends and everyone who knew him.
He enjoyed life and liked to have fun.
