Thomas Xavier Clayton, 25, of Fort Smith died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, in a local hospital. He was born May 21, 1984, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Spiro New Testament Holiness Church; a graduate of Northside High School Class of 2002, where he played football, basketball and track; attended the University of Wichita in Wichita, Kan., and was employed by Whirlpool Corp.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Victory Temple in Spiro with burial at Fort Coffee Cemetery in Fort Coffee under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.


He is survived by his fiancee, Marsha Lee of Fort Smith; two sons, Marshon and Martavies Clayton, both of Fort Smith; his father, Ocie Clayton of Fort Coffee; three sisters, Latisha Clayton of Fort Coffee, Gwendolyn Clayton of Spartanburg, S.C., and Christy Gates of San Gabriel, Calif.; a brother, Terrod Clayton of Fort Coffee; and grandmother, Ester Clayton of Fort Coffee.

Pallbearers will be Keith Greene, Brandon and Demichael Springs, Matthew and Joshua Mooring and Jamaal Norwood.

The family will visit with friends at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church today from 6 to 8 p.m.

He was a victim of murder.
