On May 4,1918 he enlisted in the United States Army in Homer, Louisiana and was discharged May 15,1919. Myron spent 9 months in France while serving. After his being discharged, he farmed for awhile in Summerfield, then began a career as a mechanic, in Homer,La. He continued to follow that trade to Woodsbury Texas, Boling, New Gulf and Bay City. In 1939 he moved to Palacios Texas and worked at Camp Hulen in 1941, 42, and 43. In 1946 he opened a cafe which was still in operation when he passed away.
He died at the Veterans Hospital in Houston Texas after a long illness. Survivors are his wife, Lillian Allgood of Palacios Texas, 2 sons, Luther Bernard of Minden, Louisiana, and Samuel E.of the U.S. Navy , of Austin Texas, a daughter, Marylyn Armstrong of Edwardsville Illinois and five grandchildren, one sister Mrs L.M. Bryan of Quitman La, and brothers Joe & Miller Allgood of Summerfield. It is unknown when he married Lillian. She is thought to have died in Palacios Tx.
