Robert "Bob" Vincent Canosa III, 55, of Rochelle, died Sunday, December 20, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born on March 27, 1954, in Amityville, New York, and grew up in Huntington, New York.

Bob joined the United States Marines in 1970 and served for three years. Following his military service, he joined the Town of Orange Police Department. He later moved to Long Island, New York, where he worked for the Suffolk County Police Department for 20 years, rising to the rank of detective. After his retirement, he moved back to Virginia and worked as a detective for the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office and lastly the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Bob is survived by his parents, Robert Vincent Canosa Jr. and Patricia Anne Elwood Canosa of Sarasota, Florida; his wife, Brenda Settle Canosa of Rochelle; children whom he loved very much and was so proud of, Caitlin and Joey Canosa of Rochelle; and two sisters, Chris Canosa of South Burlington, Vermont, and Susan O'Neill of Milton, Vermont.

Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with interment at Culpeper National Cemetery with honors, conducted by Dr. Tommy Palmer.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, at the funeral home.
