Roy Lewis Beatty, 72, of 444 Carolina Road, Del Mar, California, formerly of Livingston, Montana passed away at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California.

Roy was born June 7, 1887 in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania to the late Susanna Beatty Wasson. He lived many years in Gregg Township, Pennsylvania with his grandparents, Sarah Runkle Beaty and James Beaty. On September 22, 1913 he married Beulah Lorena Clark in Seneca, Nebraska. Roy and his family lived several places, including Faulk, South Dakota and Detroit, Michigan; where his daughter was born. They settled in Casper, Wyoming where their sons were born.

Roy worked for Yellowstone National Park between 1930 and 1931 as an auto mechanic. On June 16, 1931, while working in the Park, Roy rolled a government truck he was driving. The truck turned over the bank in the Mammoth-Golden Gate Road at a point just above what is known as Hayes Lake. The truck rolled clear to the bottom of the hill and was pretty badly wrecked, and Roy was thrown from the truck about half way down. Since Roy's accident the lake has become an unofficial memorial commonly called Beatty's Lake.

The family moved to Livingston, where their son's attended school and where Roy was affiliated with the Livingston Enterprise. The family left Livingston several years ago and since that time Beatty had resided in California. While living in California, Roy worked as a stock clerk for Eastern Airlines in Oakland.

Survivors include his widow, Beulah Beatty; two sons, Curtis C. Beatty, in California; Jack D Beatty, Wake Island; a daughter, Villis L Miller, in California; and two half-brothers, James Wasson and Charles Wasson, both of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Susanna Beatty Wasson; step father, Edwin Wasson; a daughter, Cleo Elaine Beatty; and a half-sister, Bessie Driver.

Funeral Services were conducted Monday, January 4, 1959 at the Encinitas mortuary in Encinitas, California. Interment was in Eternal Hills Cemetery at Oceanside, California.
