Hilarion "Larry" W. Bingen, 84, of 137 E. Division St., died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1992, at his home. He was born July 5, 1908, in Fond du Lac, a son of Henry and Apollonia K. Luis Bingen. On Feb. 25, 1933, he married Annabelle M. Waller at St. Mary's Church. Mr. Bingen was a graduate of Fond du Lac High School and attended Ripon College and University of Wisconsin-Madison. He owned and operated Bingen Standard service station for 11 years. Mr. Bingen began his career in city government in 1941 as deputy city assessor and then as city assessor, city treasurer and retired in 1972 after serving nine years as city welfare director. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 664, Elks Lodge No. 57, St. Mary's Holy Name Society where he served two terms as president, St. Joseph's Society, and was a past president of St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary's Church. Mr. Bingen also served as an officer of the Particular Council and the Central Council!
of St. Vincent de Paul. He was a past president of Gasoline Retailers, past president of the Wisconsin Local Welfare Association and a member of the Community Welfare Council. He was active in the Community Chest. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Darlene Ottery and her husband David, and Mary Copet and her husband Gerald, all of Fond du Lac; two grandchildren, Angela Doyle and her husband Thomas of Chicago and Jack Copet of Fond du Lac; one sister, Viola Lepine of Fond du lac; and one sister-in-law, Mary Waller of Chicago. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers and eight sisters. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church for Liturgy of Christian Burial. The Rev. Kevin Wester will officiate. Entombment will be at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home where a parish vigil will be held at 7:30.
