Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 2, 2009 at the age of 84. He was born in Muskegon, MI June 22, 1925. He was married to his beloved wife Nancy for 59 years. Stan was a devoted father of 3 children: Patricia Massagli and husband Victor, Gail Alvine and husband Jack, Bruce Aldrich and wife Alene Antelman. He has 5 grandchildren whom he was very proud of: Nic and Carla Massagli, Kevin, Kyle, and Kasia Alvine; along with 6 entertaining great-grandchilden: Matteo and Allie Massagli, Quinn Alvine, Margaret, Veronica, and Thomas Alvine. Stan shared a close bond with his recently deceased brother John Aldrich, who is survived by his wife Shirley Aldrich and family. He was a United States Navy Pilot. Stan retired from the Navy Reserve as a Lieutenant Commander serving 23 years. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering. Stan was a Structural Engineer as a partner in an engineering firm and retired in 1988. In retirement he became very active with Senior Gleanors, Loaves and Fishes, St. Marks UMC, and Meals on Wheels with his wife. He had a passion for staying active swimming in open water races as a Master swimmer. The memorial service will be held Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:00am at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 2391 St. Marks Way Sacramento, CA 95838. Burial will follow at the VA Cemetery in Dixon CA at 1:30pm. His family will miss him terribly. We love him with all of our hearts.
