Clarence R. "Jigger" Bailey, 78, of Rehoboth Beach, passed from this life on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Beebe Medical Center. Clarence was born in Milton, DE on February 1, 1936 to the late Howard F. Bailey and Melba (Coppes) Bailey. Mr. Bailey retired in 1995 from Rehoboth Beach Police Department after 28 years of service. Prior to being at the RBPD he served in both Milford and Milton Police Departments. He attended Milton High School. Jigger coached Milton Little League, enjoyed Fast Pitch Men's Softball and participated in Operation Santa Claus. He loved hunting, fishing and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Skye Downey. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise (Voss) Bailey; children, Randy Bailey and wife Paula, Sandy Whaley and husband Keith, Cheryl Betts and husband Chris, Gary Bailey and wife Carlyn, Brandon Reeves-Bailey; grandchildren, Shannon Bailey, Jason Bailey, Chris Skye, Sabrina Hearn, Matt Whaley, Christopher Betts, Cory Betts, Brittany Bailey and Erin Bailey; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and brother: Donald Bailey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street in Milton where friends may call Wednesday evening, October 29, 2014 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milton.
