William H. Baker, 81, of Smyrna passed away on July 26, 2017.

Mr. Baker was a policeman for the City of Wilmington. For most of his career he was a machinist for Amtrak in Wilmington, DE. He was also a security guard for Disability Retirement office located on Basin Road in New Castle, DE. He was active in the Little League in Newark and was active with the 13-16 year old Babe Ruth League in Newark. He was a born again Christian.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 28 years: Carolyn F. (White) Baker; one daughter, Cassandra Bedolla and her husband Fernando of Newark and their children Paul, Eddie, Jennifer, Emma and Chad and four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his stepdaughter Susan Mateja and her husband Walter A. Mateja, Jr. of Camden, DE and their children Emily and Ellyannna.

He was predeceased by his mother Catherine W. Baker and children Bill, Jr., Ruth Ellen, Paul and George.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday August 2, 2017 with a public viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934. The burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or a Christian Media venue.
