Mr. Bennett is a retired sergeant of the Wilmington Police Department after 22 years of service; was operations manager for Spence Security for 10 years; and retired as a deputy US Marshall in 2003 after 15 years of service.
Mr. Bennett was a active member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge #14, Royal Arch Mason, 33rd Degree Scottish and York Rite, Noble of the Nur Temple, member of the Chapel Four Chaplains, and a past Grand Tall of Brandywine Forest #20. He was president of the Delaware Association of Police and the Fraternal Police Lodge #1.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean; his son, Rick of Hockessin; his daughters, Sherry Steidle of Gladwynn, PA and Jeanne Campbell of Alamo, CA; and eight grandchildren, Brian, Brett and Molly Campbell, Trey, Bennett and Bailey Steidle, and Christina and Ricky Bennett, Jr.; two sisters, Ginny Skinner of Lakeland, FL and Darlene Wright of Clarksburg, WV; and his brother, James of Port Charlotte, FL.
