He was killed "while conducting security and stability operations in Ramadi, Iraq which is in Anbar
province".

He was awarded the "Purple Heart" for his sacrifice.

He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Regiment, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Mr. Clifton was a 2003 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Lewes. He was a member of the National Youth Leadership forum on Defense and Diplomacy.
