Landon Ruth Meece, 13, of Livingston, MT. died at Benefis Health Care in Great Falls on Wednesday, June 27, 2007.
Landon was born March 29, 1994, in Lexington, Ky., the daughter of Edwin R. and Karen D. (Gaines) Meece. She attended Cox's Creek Elementary School and Bluegrass Christian Academy before moving with her family to Livingston, where her father had accepted the position of city manager. Landon had just completed the seventh grade at Sleeping Giant Middle School. She was a dedicated student, maintaining straight A's and receiving several academic awards.
In her brief time with us, Landon filled her life with many interests and activities. Being athletic, she enjoyed playing soccer and skiing, which she took up this past winter. She enjoyed the outdoors, including hiking and camping. Her many artistic talents were exhibited through her music, playing the piano, flute, dulcimer and she recently learned to play the harmonica by ear. She also liked cooking, crafts and photography. Landon was active in her new church, Cornerstone Community Fellowship. She always had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include her parents, Ed and Karen Meece of Livingston; her brother, Edison Meece of the family home; maternal grandparents, David and Betty Gaines of Frankfort, Ky.; paternal grandparents, Ron and Jean (Chaney) Meece of Durham, N.C.; maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Chaney of Greensburg, Ky.; aunts, uncles and cousins, Amy and Daniel Thompson and their children, Abbey and Grace, all of Frankfort, Ky., and Darin and Tori Meece and their children, Maggie, Patrick and Emma, all of Durham, N.C.
