She was the daughter of Edward L. Spencer (b 7-1882, d 12-20-1959) and Cora Cox Spencer (b 1-3-1891, d 11-17-1964), and had the following siblings: Mary Lydia Spencer (b 4-1-1907, d 9-18-1978), Chanie Lee Spencer (b 8-25-1908, d 3-22-1935 of turburculosis, buried near Hot Spot, Kentucky), Cobie G. Spencer (A World War II US Army Air Corps veteran, b 6-25-1916, d 5-3-1978), Edward Spencer (A World War II US Army veteran, wounded in action, b 11-1-1918, d circ 1950, ran over by a train in Chicago, Illinois), Verlon Thomas Spencer (A World War II US Army veteran, b 3-22-1921, d 7-1979), Woodrow Spencer (A World War II US Army veteran, wounded in action, b 12-3-1921, d 8-1979), Jack Ray Spencer (A Korean War US Army veteran, b 11-25-1928, d 1-11-1986), and Faye Spencer (b circ 1934), (Four of her six brothers fought as American soldiers in World War II, and one fought in the Korean War.) Her father was a coal miner who had a beam fall within 1 foot of him and was nearly buried alive. She married Peter Bruno Barzelogna (an Italian Army WWI Veteran, b 2-16-1898, d 1-6-1976) in Dickenson County, Virginia and had the following children: Robert Barzelogna (a USMCR/ USAF Cold War/ Cuban Missile Crisis/ Vietnam Veteran, b 1-28-1935, d 6-13-2014), Jack Wayne Barzelogna (a USAF Cold War/ Cuban Missile Crisis veteran, b 3-4-1937, d 10-26-1997), Richard Dean Barzelogna (a Teamster Vice President, b 6-7-1938, d 1-2015), and Barbara Barzelogna Humphrey (b 9-30-1940). She was also grandmother to 9 grandchildren. She was a teacher, a bookkeeper, she rivetted bombers for Packard during World War II, she was 1/2 owner of the Blue Bell Restaurant in Detroit, Michigan during the 1950's, and she worked for the Flagler Beach Elementry School in Florida during the late 1960's, early 1970's. She became a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 5213, Flagler County, Florida. After her husband died in 1976, she liquidated her assets and left Florida for Long Beach, California. She died soon after she was diagnosed for bone cancer in 1991.
