(Son, William L. and father, ADAM BRADDOCK CSA)
Information from Homer P. Thomson, 3629 Ridgestone Dr., Garland, TX., 75040; 28 Feb 1993; 'William L. Braddock was the son of Adam & Elzira Braddock. He was a Private in Company I, 2nd State Troops, Mississippi Infantry, Confederate States Army. Adam Braddock and son, William Braddock joined Company I, 2nd Regiment (Infantry) Mississippi State Troops, on the same day, Sept. 12, 1864, at Ruckersville, Miss. The elder Braddock, age 54, was enlisted as a private. William, age 17, was enlisted in the rank of corporal. Research has revealed little about their service. The 2nd State Troops appears to have been a militia or perhaps a home guard type unit. The enlistment term for both men was only 30 days. Adam had two other sons Confederate service, both with the 32nd Miss. Infantry. The oldest, Stephen Braddock, was killed in the battle of Franklin, Tenn., and is buried in the Confederate Cemetery there. Adam and William came to Lamar Co. in 1879 and are buried in McGlasson Cemetery.'
