Catherine Murchison married Kenneth Findley in 1805 in Pendleton District, South Carolina.
Records received from descendants of Kenneth Findley verified the following facts. Kenneth moved with his wife Catherine and five children from Franklin County, Georgia to the Alabama Territory in 1816. Kenneth bought land on the old Robertson Place from William Robertson. In 1821 Catherine Findley died and was buried on the Findley property which is now known as the Old Northport / Robertson / Stone Cemetery. Her interment established the burial ground which included 3.25 acres which had been set aside by William Robertson. Kenneth Findley was the second person to be interred there in 1828.
Kenneth owned 480 acres of the 640 acres in Section 9 where the cemetery is located. On September 24, 1826 he executed a deed to his oldest son John who had become of age, for his minor son Kenneth Murchison Findley. The deed created a "life estate" for his benefit and the remainder after death for use and benefit of his heirs if any or if none to the heirs at law of the Grantor.
After the death of Catherine (Murchison) Findley, Kenneth remarried to Sarah Moffitt. They had two children, James, 1823 and Kenneth A., 1821. Sarah (Moffitt) Findley was born in 1800 in Tennessee and died in 1870 in Jefferson, Texas. Her son James died in Texas also. Her son Kenneth A. died in Knoxville, Tuscaloosa County. He and his wife Mary (Coker) Findley are buried in the Old Northport Cemetery. This is proven in a letter from Mrs. P.E. Furlow, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee written on April 2, 1951. She states: "and children by his wife Sarah Moffet Findley, K.A. and James who was the older. James died in Texas leaving a daughter, Mahala, whose mother was a Gamble. K.A. married Mary Coker. She had James and John Knox Findley. James died at about 3 years. K.A. died young and also Mary Coker Findley". Mrs. Furlow further states that K.A. and Mary Coker Findley are buried in the Old Northport Cemetery but there are no markers. She states:" Paschall Stone and his sisters and Judge Herbert Findley pointed them out for me".
