David S. Reynolds, 55, who recently passed away at his home on June 28, 2010, is remembered by his many friends and family as a compassionate, empathetic man who loved Marion, American and European history, politics, flying and his four legged "kids."

Born in Lakehurst, New Jersey on May 11, 1955, David graduated from Pleasant High School in 1973 and attended The Ohio State University at Marion.

David moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he developed his passion for flying and earned his pilot's license. He became traffic reporter for KXIV Radio flying beside his father, Terry Forbis, who did traffic reporting on a competing radio station requiring friends and family to alternate listening between radio stations.

David also developed his interest in politics serving as a precinct committeeman for Arizona Governor Raul Castro.

Returning to Marion, David worked for Great American Restaurants, Inc. as the manager of the former Bucky's Restaurant. He also worked for the hotel/hospitality industry for the Hyatt Corporation in Columbus.

He returned to Marion and served the Marion Aids Task Force and HIV Community Services, first as a volunteer, then as the Office Manager. Most recently he was the Manager of Medical Records for the Center Street Community Health Center.

His compassion for people and a desire to serve others was exhibited by his work at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church's Community Food Pantry directing and coordinating volunteers and clients as well as garnering financial support.

David's love for Marion and politics came together in his work for several political campaigns. He was appointed by Mayor Scott Schertzer as a Board Member on the Downtown Marion Design Review Board and he was a charter member of the Marion County Historical Society.

David is survived by his parents, Julia (Rhodes) and Terry Forbis of Glendale, AZ, Richard Reynolds of Marion; sister, Lori Reynolds-Smalley (Chuck); nephew, Jackson Smalley of Glendale, AZ; aunt, Lois Lemley; cousins, Karla Schultz (Bob), Ben Graff (Sandi) of Marion and Joseph Graff (Rachel) of Noblesville, IN; his four-legged family includes Simon, Val, Jules, Alice and Bluey.

David's family would like to extend a heart-felt thanks to Karl Gouzd.
