MARKEL – On July 9, 1959, at 7 p.m., at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Miller, Spring Grove RD 2, Robert R. Markel, husband of the late Lucy Krebs Markel, aged 80 years, 8 months, 4 days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services Monday, July 13, at 10 a.m. at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. Interment in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Robert R. Markel

Spring Grove – Robert R. Markel, a retired farmer and husband of the late Mrs. Lucy Krebs Markel, died at 7 o’clock last evening at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Miller, Spring Grove RD 2, with whom he resided. He was 80.
Mr. Markel was a member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Jacob’s (Stone) Church, near Glenville, and Sunday school. He also belonged to Yosemite Tribe 100, Red Men, and Rock Council 54, Patriotic Americans, both of Glen Rock. He formerly resided in the Glen Rock area.
Surviving, besides his daughter, are eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Ammon P. Markel, New Oxford, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Myers, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. George Bortner, Glen Rock.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. His pastor, Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, will officiate, assisted by Rev. George A. Heisey, pastor of Jefferson United Church of Christ charge. Interment will be in St. Jacob’s Church Cemetery.
