Son of Walter Allen and Margaret Lyster Allen, of North Croft, Bowness-on-Solway, Carlisle.
Formerly of Chester Road, Ranelagh, and Reuben Street, Dublin.

Wellington Lyster Allen, son of Walter and Margaret Allen of 12, Chester Road, Ranelagh, Dublin was born on 21 November 1895, and baptised at Holy Trinity Church, Belgrave Road, Rathmines, on 5 February 1896.
His father was a clerk in The Irish Land Commission.

The family do not appear to have been recorded in the 1901 census.
In the 1911 census, the family were living at 52, Reuben Street, Dolphin's Barn, Dublin. The house had 5 rooms
present were,
Walter Allen, aged 42, married, a second class clerk in the Land Commission, born in Cheshire.
Margaret, his wife, aged 35, born in Dublin city.
They had been married 17 years and had 7 children, 5 of whom were alive.
Wellington Lyster, son, aged 15.
Walter W. Brereton, son, aged 10,
Alexandra Lizzie, daughter, aged 8.
Maude Dora Purefoy, daughter, aged 6.
Archibald Alfred, son, aged 10 months.
