Aged 30.
Son of Dr. Francis G. Adye-Curran and Ida Violet M. née Byrne Adye-Curran, of Dublin. His father was a Dental Surgeon.
They were married in Rathdown district, Co. Dublin in Q2, 1906.



The SS Khedive Ismail was a passenger ship requisitioned for wartime use as a Troop Ship.
It was involved in the Mediterranean in 1941, and later served in the Indian Ocean.

It left Mombasa, Kenya, on 5th February 1944 as part of a convoy heading for Colombo, Ceylon. It was attacked on the afternoon of 12th February 1944 by a Japanese submarine, and sank within minutes.
It had 1324 onboard, which included
996 soldiers of the East African Artillery Regiment,
271 Royal Navy personnel,
53 Nursing Staff,

Only 214 survived the sinking, and the subsequent successful attempt to sink the submarine.
