Services for Earl Edward Abney, 47, of 917 O'Daniel will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Mortuary.

Abney died at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Veteran's Administration Hospital at Amarillo.

He had been an area resident for the past year and was a former City of Lubbock employee.

Abney was born Nov. 11, 1926 in Quail and was a veteran of World War II after serving in the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Janie of the home; two step-sons, Chester and Jack Funk of Lubbock; his mother, Mrs. Winnie Abney of Murray, Utah; six sisters, and six grandchildren.
